The great python watched from the tip of his thick, curving branch as the warm, summer breeze caressed his scorching scales as he basked in the sun. Lazing around for most of the early-to-mid-afternoon was but a way of life for the enormous, eleven-metre long giant. His coils - thickest at the middle part of his long, writhing body - had a circumference greater than that of a woman's thigh. Even his head was gargantuan, covered in scars and old, flaking scales that had seen better days. He was old, but a true marvel of his kind, the Indian rock python, a wealth of knowledge escorting him through each year of his persisting existence. Each of his belly scales, a dull yellow-orange colour, rippled across the rough, coarse surface of the tree-branch as he stretched his elastic-like jaws, his version of a yawn.
